Anyone tried growing railroad vine out of their reef/saltwater aquarium?

I used to grow pathos above my freshwater aquariums (especially my discus tank). I never tested it personally, but the thinking is that their (relatively) rapid growth helps pull nutrients out of the water. When I switched to saltwater I was of course interested in mangroves, however, as I understand it they are slow growing and don't do much in the way of nutrient removal. . . also I don't keep sand/substrate in my tanks which I understand can be a problem.

I had briefly looked into "pathos alternatives" for saltwater when I started reefing, but it didn't really lead anywhere. . . but I was doing a little reading today and stumbled upon the railroad vine (Ipomoea pes-caprae) that grows pretty near the water. . . think these could grow with roots in a tank?. . . Google and it's AI say no. . . but figured I would ask to see if anyone had thoughts or had tried it. . .

EDIT: I should specify I am talking about the shoot of the plant above the waterline with it's roots in the water. . .

"If inundated with salt water even for a short time, the aboveground portion will die back but typically regrow from the roots. However, long periods of saltwater inundation may kill the entire plant."

My vote is this wont work.

From a nursery site, I think it would not work.

Considering that this is probably a weedy plant, it wouldn't cost too much to experiment with.

If I had to experiment, I would try this in an HOB breeding box partially filled with sand. Then have my auto top off fill this part with fresh water to help it acclimate it to salt.
