Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with using artificial plants (UNLESS it's harming the fish and bad for the environment etc.). I feel like people who have criticized you about that need to know that all fish people aren't plant/coral people.

I feel it is contrary to what we try to achieve in the hobby... authenticity. But to each his/her own...

One of the most stunning tanks at LAX Aquarium has amazing corals that are compatible with plastic plants.

I had some in my freshwater tank.

I’m going to preface this with saying that I genuinely do not care if someone else uses fake plants in their tank.

I do, however, feel like it takes away from the beauty of the tank when you have poorly kept fake plants (i.e. dirty) and will personally not to use them on my saltwater tanks
