I got a used Energy bar 632, When I connected it to power socket, it makes a flickering sound. Despite this, all the outlets are working fine, and it shows up in Fusion without any problems.

However, I noticed a burning plastic smell coming from the Energy Bar. I decided to open it up to inspect it but found nothing unusual except for some dust. Everything looked good inside.

After cleaning it, I reconnected it to the PSU and switched it on, again it flickers once. No other issues and all working fine. What could be the issue??? Is it safe to use it? 20250102_181600.jpg

Can you upload the video to YouTube and then share it?

I'm curious as to what this clicking sound is as well.
Plug it in outside!

Electrical arcing from a short makes a distinct crackling sound. OP's report of plastic burning smell is probably melting insulation.

If it was my energy bar I would mail it to you if you want to experience this.:beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes::cool:

That does sound scary. Like a 220-240vac wire became frayed inside the insulation and it has gotten to the point that there's just wide enough gap that it creates a spark?

If so, definitely an immediate 'remove from service' situation.

However not all is lost, it may be an extremely easy repair.

I would still send it to you! I have wired a house and an aquarium shop or two and once things get iffy I toss them.

We had a water leak and dealing with insurance for that was very unpleasant. I have become less tolerant of risk since that experience.

Do not put that back in service, as the others have said.

Here’s so still shots to solidify that for you:

Thanks everyone for your feed back. I will definitely not use this for now. Gonna take it to a tech.
