Hi everybody!

I got a piece of live rock with 3 discosoma a few weeks ago. I started my cycle with that piece of live rock. But just now I saw 2 aptasias on it. I pulled the piece of live rock from the tank and hammered it off. Only got a little live rock frag on now. I lost one discosoma in the process.. will this be enough? I got a few mushrooms with a bit left over live rock they dont seem infected but I will keep a close eye on them. The new frags I do dip. But that first live rock I didn’t.

Are there like spores or whatever that’ll stay alive? Or did I execute it mostly now? My other rock is dry rock.

You could add a peppermint shrimp just in case. They eat Aptasia
Thanks for answering, yea I`ve read about that. But some people say they aren`t really reef safe? And I kinda now what is happening in my tank and the rest of the tank doesn`t seem affected by eye. But I can miss stuff ofcourse how likely is it that the rest of my tank has aptasia? They were really small still like 0.3/0.4 mm that`s like 1/8th of an inch?

I had two little ones that came in on a candy cane frag. One fell off during the initial dip, and the other I missed. They seemed to be growing out of the skeleton! I killed one that got pretty big with super glue, then another popped out of a crack in the skeleton. I removed the frag and cut off the bottom of the skeleton with some bone cutters. That was months ago, and I haven't seen anymore. So you can get rid of them if you are diligent and they don't take over!

Peppermint shrimps are reef safe from what I know. They might pick on snails and other inverts if not fed properly. I would ask Reef Cleaners about them. As John the owner won't steer you wrong.
