Im pretty sure im going through a bit of a bacteria bloom. Tank has been running for about 3-4 months. I increased feeding last week in an effort to get my new banggai cardinals to eat so maybe that’s what caused it? I planned on getting a Hollywood stunner chalice next week which will be my first attempt at keeping coral. Should I wait for this to pass?

Sorry for the poor lighting, I had to switch it over to white because my phone can’t handle the blues lol. With the blues I can barely see to the other side of the tank.

What are your system parameters?
System age?
System filtration?
System equipment's?
System dosing?
System inhabitants?
What's your husbandry like?
Without these any suggestion you get is dart in the dark..

Could be bacteria, could be micro bubbles. It might pass as most ugly stages do. Since you had no issues up til now i would wait a week before doing anything besides water changes

180 gallon tank
Ammonia, nitrites - 0
Nitrates- between 5 and 10
Temp: 79.5 ( trying to get this down)
Salinity: 1.023
My sump setup is filter socks > chaeto > protein skimmer > return
I don’t dose currently since it’s fish only.
2 clowns, 1 yellowtail damsel, 1 chromis, 3 banggai cardinals, 1 longspine urchin. Also, I released 1,250 pods a couple weeks ago.
I do roughly 25 gallon water changes every couple weeks.

How old is the system?
What's your po4?

Am assuming you started with dry rocks.
If you have not dosed carbon, I would say you are still going through cycle and this is diatom phase. U just need to be patient and wait it out. You can drop a UV there for a day or 2 it will take the bloom away but do not keep the UV more than 3 days, you want the system to mature and build its biological system.
Eventually the diatom will go away and you will have green algae phase.
Just be patient, keep up with water changes, vacume sand every now and then, mindgull feeding and test your po4 and no3 at least once a week or 2.
