Hello all,

When you get some Bhergia nudibranch for aiptasia hunting.

Do you order a certain number for the size tank or do you go off the severity of infestation?

Never owned nudibranch before either so tips would be appreciated as well

It depends. The more nudibranchs, then it can reduce the infestation more quickly. Realize that it still isn't usually an overnight fix.

Usually you order a minimum of 3 they will reproduce rather quickly (a few months)

They are pack hunters and make colonies that make eggs and more berghia.
The first month they make little impact. They are nibbling and making eggs. It’s after you get several generations working together the aiptasia numbers come down fast.

For me I had hundreds and hundreds of aiptasia. I added. 14 berghia. 7 on one side and 7 on the other.

Place them all together in the same spot.

First 2 months I never saw a berghia. Then I started seeing them randomly. By the time month 3 was over 90% of aiptasia gone. By month 4 I was selling them so they don’t starve because I had no aiptasia left

I would reccomend ordering a min of 6 to make a starter colony somewhere. And don’t distribute them all over. Put them all in the same spot. They will find the aiptasia. Trust me. They can smell them out. I find berghia in my overflow. Chamber 3 of my sump. They go everywhere they need to. It just takes time

I just get 1 or 2 for my 40 gallon. If you get too many, they will kill every aptaisia within a couple of weeks, then will starve to death. But they never get every aptaisia, they always miss a few tiny babies, so in a couple of months you have an outbreak again. So I just get a couple, and let them slowly eat through the aptaisia. They live longer, and the aptaisia problem is seemingly gone longer.

Thank you everyone I ended getting 5 for my 135 gallon. I dont have a ton of *Visible* Aiptasi but I can see about a dozen or so.

I was using F-aiptasia but they are in a back far area of the tank and its hard for precision so why not let nature do its thing.

Similar story years ago but less initial #, used https://reeftown.com/berghia-nudibranchs. Follow the directions worked for me and I have a Melanarus. Good luck.
