I'm new to the hobby and looking to start dosing my nano aquarium with All For Reef. What's a simple & cost effective way to do this? I was looking at wifi timers, & then found the Kamoer X1 Pro2, which seemed like a great solution. But, there are a ton of negative reviews about it being unable to connect to wifi and having no support. Any advice on this pump, or a similar setup? Willing to spend a little money for something good, but this is only a nano, so I was thinking I could get away without a full system controller. I looked at Hydros, but their systems aren't exactly easy to navigate or decide what I need.

Thanks & Happy Reefing!

The Hydros Minnow has 2 pumps on it and 2 sense ports. So that would gt you in. I use one of my X10 pumps to dose All For Reef. The Minnow has 3 speeds 25ml a minute, 40ml a minute and 55ml a minute. They can run in either direction. I have the Minnow but I use it for my AWC.

I was thinking about going that direction so i can add more to the system when i upgrade tanks. Are the pumps reliable? Also. Do you dose anything else besides all for reef?

I have been using the one I have for well over a year and I use it for water change so that s a lot more use than dosing All For Reef into a small tank. How much do you regularly dose in a day. That could be limit since there is usually a minimum dosing time per dose.

Dang those are cheap! How are they as far as reliability? Does the app work well as a timer? I have a jebao slw10 powerhead & it's been great.
I have the 3.4 for about 2 years now.
Each head have a schedule.

Not sure can't imagine it would be much. But I could always dilute the solution if needed

I use a X10 dosing pump but it is set for 10ml a minute and the dose is split into 4 times a day and I also have been diluting it to half strength. Here is the dosing log for the pump.

My question would be if I do upgrade to a jydros gear, would that eventually make all of my current gear obsolete if it isn't compatible with hydros? What if I want to run certain equipment not from hydros?

I use a Reef Factory Dosing Pump - Single Head - works great for me on my Nano 13g Evo

What equipment are you referring to? The Hydros can power on and off equipment if needed. There is the XP8 which had 8 AC outlets and they have power monitoring. There are the wifi power strips but I would not use those on ATO, AWC or dosing since they will remain in their current state if communications is lost between them and the controller or collective if you have a collective, Some of the Hydros controllers have 12v DC outputs. Also the Kraken has 24v DC outputs on it. The wave engines have direct drive ports to control BLDC type motors. There is a list that has the ones they are compatible with.

I just want freedom to run separate equipment. I don't want to be locked into running only hydros gear for it to gain the benefits of having the controller. Right now I run an innovative marine thermometer with digital regulator, ai blade, tunze osmolator nano, sicce pumps and ai nero. Most of the stuff has its own app or control feature. You're saying if I want to run separate gear to buy like an xp8? What if you wanted to run the sensors but with different devices like heater?

On heater it is best to have a backup off on your heater. There are quite a few people that use a heater controller with their Hydros and use the Hydros setup as a backup off if the tank were to get above a set temp. The XP8 is just a controller that has 8 AC outlets as the controllable ports. If you have more than on Hydros controller you can create a collective using command bus cables to connect the controllers together and a couple of terminators. Then you create a collective using your original Hydros controller since the controller you use to create the collective will retain it's settings and they will become the settings of the collective. Then you would add the new controller to the collective. Any controller added after the collective is created will loose any settings but if it is a new controller it would not have any yet. A collective acts like one larger controller with all the inputs and outputs of the member controllers. You can use an input from one to control an output on another. So as far as the collective is concerned it doesn't matter which controller an input or output is on. With a collective though if there is a controller with it's own power supply then any power supplies that connect directly to a command bus port you would have to remove those supplies from the command bus but they are not needed since the command bus will supply power from controller with their own power supplies like the XP8.
