Hey all, I've got a bit of a bubble algae infestation. I'm dealing with it through reducing broadcast feeds, more frequent water changes, and manual removal. I use a tool FishOfHex sells that kind of scrapes off the bubbles and sucks it up at the same time. Unfortunately some doesn't make it in the siphon and inevitably ends up in my overflow and gets stuck in my Clarisea Filter Roller's weirs. Some breaks off on its own too. This reduces the flow drain and eventually causes the emergency pipe to start draining. I end up having to disassemble the roller and clean out the openings at least once a week sometimes more often. Laborious to say the least.

Anyone have suggestions on how to deal with this most effectively? I could widen the openings by shaving down the plastic, but then I have bubble algae just 'floating' in my roller's water cavity. Would it eventually stick to the filter roller mesh and be exported before it completely dissolved? Looking for suggestions, also expert bubble algae fighting techniques.

Thanks for lookin'!

maybe shut off all filters/pumps/ wavemakers for 30 minutes whilst you deep clean as such/remove algae.
Instead of going all in just work on small sections at a time, so working from the furthest point away of your filter, I:e. Filter on the right.. you start from left, manually remove as much large clumps as possible, toothbrush the finer stuff, suck up any floaty bits with turkey baster just a small section at a time.. turn on filters to remove any tiny bits, and do same daily or weekly, this way your pumps/pipes should not be clogged up as much.
Just my suggestion:)

Old thread, but I'm having a similar issue with bubble algae and snails in my Clarisea roller as well.

I think I'm going to cut a few slits out to widen some for the larger pieces to flow through next time I take the unit out to clean it.
