Hi all,

I lost a fish yesterday but didn’t think to much of it, now my clownfish especially the one at the bottom of the picture has barely left that spot all day and it’s looks like some of the chromis I have, have some white spots on them(could this be ick) any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi,
The clownfish could have Brooklynella. The spots on the damsel sort of look like ich, but could also be Brook.

We really need a clear video and more background information (water quality, what fish died, how long has the tank been set up, etc.). This post explains all that:

Thanks for the reply, please find attached video. The fish that died was a gramma fish and water quality is good, I get water from my local fish shop and perform a water change once a week. The clownfish in the video has been doing that all day

I think this is Brooklynella, based on the rapid breathing on the damsel, the gramma dying and the way the clowns are swimming. That is going to be tough to treat. The best treatment is formalin, but that is difficult to source and is toxic to people and not really safe to use in a home. The next option is Ruby Reef Rally Pro, as a 3 hour dip, as well as in the tank itself. Be forewarned though - once fish begin dying from Brooklynella, Rally Pro may not be strong enough or work fast enough to save all of the remaining fish.
