Can you use a old milk jug to store RODI water?

Anything 'food grade' quality is fine, milk jug is food grade quality so its fine. I would just use bleach or vinegar to clean it.

They will be fine for a while, but milk jugs will eventually fail. They are not designed for very long term use. At one time I filled a bunch for long term storage of potable water for emergencies. Over the years, mist leaked and developed cracks, leaving jugs with only a little water in them.

Randy, will the jugs from distilled water also be a problem long term, especially if I am using them for Alkalinity, calcium and magnesium components?

Better inexpensive alternatives?

Water will last longer than other solutions.
Store sodium hydroxide solution in glass, it eats thru at least some plastics.

I don't know, but I'd guess that they are all the same, and only designed to last long enough for the intended use. Using them should be fine if you just replace them once in a while.

Thanks Randy! I might invest in something that will survive long term. My luck would be one breaks down when I’m on a two week vacation, and I certainly don’t want to come home to a gallon of alkalinity on my wood floors.
