Not sure if my thread is in the right place here?

I can't seem to get away with any serious amount of carbon dosing without creating bio film all over the place.

Currently I'm dosing 14ml of Modern Reef c+ into 700l system.

System looks great, but I'm running No3 at about 12-15, which I'd prefer to be below 10.

As soon as I run any more than 1ml/l I get bio film in the sump, pipes, and now a little starting to catch on rockwork. I don't get it. Why can't I get away with more? Should be able to dose 3ml/l but if I did that my tank would be a mess!

I'm dosing Modern Reef RKS so carbon, Gfo, refugium etc is not advisable. Maintaining No3 isnt an issue. Ive a good skimmer, roll mat, 10% weekly w/c. Just the bio film from the carbon dosing is driving me mad!

First thing that come to mind is that if you have enough anoxic media within the tank?

There is unlikely to be an effect on the aquarium running it below 10 or above 10 ppm nitrate. You might reevaluate the need to be below 10 ppm.
