Can any of you who currently have an "Asian Acan," preferably a recently imported specimen, check your coral's skeleton for me please?
I suspect that these corals are Micromussa multipunctata, based on their collection locality and color patterning. This species is unique in that it has plocoid corallites as opposed to cerioid in other Micromussas. Since Micromussas have a coenosarc lip that hides their thecae, the only way to tell is to look at their skeleton.
When make your coral close up, can you see sand particles embedded between its polyps? If you have a larger colony, could you possibly cut off and sacrifice a small part to see what the skeleton looks like?
