I love everything about this picture!I was always hesitant about getting a clam but I’ve had this one for several years with great success. Might explore getting a dersa and trying it out.

Most clams in the hobby are cultured, but noae and large maximas are wild caught. Any maxima that’s over 4” is most likely wild caught. As far as I know, no one is farming noae, which is a shame. There are only a handful of clam farms in the world, most of which are farmed for food and a small percentage for the hobby. I would avoid wild caught maxima, as they have a very poor track record for living in captivity. The last time I checked, there were about 20 farms, but it’s been a while since I checked. Are all clams taken from the wild? Or are they propagated?
Yes, it’s a derasa. It’s a very fast grower.Hey Ccole, is that a derada in the back right?
Nice size clam.
