I’ve been running flow testing and leak testing with tap water all is well. I’m in the process of draining the tank (400g) and will be filling it with salt later today. I have a closed loop on the bottom glass. As the title says - here is my question. When I installed the male adapters into the Hayward bulkheads I simple used teflon tape. I am not having any issues, but this is the one time I have to address this. Technically, I can install a plug down the road to access if I had to, but… So, I was made aware of this stuff I have in the picture. Would you disconnect clean the threads and start over with this stuff? I imagine I would want to go heavy with it. Thoughts? @BeanAnimal you have been super helpful jumping in from time to time. If your around your insight would be greatly appreciated.

I would use the teflon tape and for larger threads/fittings they make thicker tape. I have used the pipe thread sealent on a 4" sanjay Joshi DIY Ca reactor and honestly the stuff is messy. Tape is cleaner ..
my $.02

That’s what I have there now. I had about 1.5” of Teflon. But, this is my one time…

Teflon tape can put a lot of pressure on the female side of the joint. I would only go with two wraps or so and the PTFE paste. You have to be careful with both, as they add lubricity and can allow you to over tighten the joint and stress the fittings. Silicone sealant is also an option for a permanent installation like this that is not "permanent" if push come to shove.
