Hi all,

I'm about 7 months in with having a saltwater tank and a lot of it's been learning on the fly. I got this coral a bit ago because it looked really pretty and typically it looks pretty flat. Well today I noticed that it's looking kind of bulbous and each individual segment is more rounded/distinct? Is this normal or is something going wrong? I had a torch die recently, so I'm looking for warning signs.

Normal and healthy. Looks hungry. This should be target fed 2x a week. Mysis, benereef, crushed flake food etc. it will gobble it up and lead to better growth and health (resilience to deteriorating in time)

Do I need to give each bulb a shrimp, or is it better to use crushed flake food?
Each bulb that’s open with feeding tentacles out can get a few pieces of crushed flake or a few mysis shrimp

When they do this they are hungry and trying to capture food, but they are slow eaters and rarely capture it on their own.

A coral feeder or turkey baster makes this easy. Just squeeze slowly so they don’t get scared and retract. Helps if flow is turned off for 5-10 min while you do this
