Why is my filter hardly like putting out water from it? I did add chaeto into my tank but not a whole lot just one ball. It's probably clogging it but I don't know how to clean it out. I also have filter floss behind my filter. Tried to remove it to see if it made a difference and it doesn't. Any ideas or tips

have not seen the skimmer version. But if chaeto got in the pump it could be the cause of low flow. If the filters were slowing it down it would bypass around them
I've never had a HOB like this before with the attached skimmer, so I assume there's a way to take it apart

What make/model is this?
Just curious as I run an HOB (power filter, I guess) and often wonder if I should even bother, or maybe use an HOB skimmer instead.

Is the "skimmer" part even doing anything on yours?
*the part I can barely see in the picture seems like it's not

I believe it's this. I used to have something very similar on my fowlr tank over a decade ago.. It was a HOB filter with a skimmer built in. I remember it made a lot of noise and was such a hassle to dial in. I dont think I ever got it to produce skimmate. There might be something causing the impeller to jam up

So like honestly I've been confused about skimmers since I've started my saltwater tank hobby. I've always had one because when I got my first tank it came with one (fluval 13 gallon saltwater tank) and I had it for like 3 years and it had it's own ecosystem but it got over taken by GSP. For this skimmer it bubbles but not all the time and sometimes it only produces water in the cup. I empty frequently in the sense when I see like more than an inch of the water it makes.
