What do you mean a few!!!!!??!?????????
put a piece of fish in a glass bottle and drop it in there tonight. let's see what comes for it? I have a fairly large mantis that's eluded me for a long time. but I now know where he is. and it's a much smaller hole that he managed to get into.

That makes a lot more sense than an fish-aggressive file fish :)
These grasshoppers kill fish? My tank is clean. I took that rock out put it in Javex and water took it outside in 20 below weather for the day...so burnt the rock froze the rock and soaked the rock and dryed the rock. I killed everything. I only have th file fish unless there's more if these snakes in the sand.

I looked it up no grasshoppers in the tank...lol.
You wouldn’t see the grasshoppers, they hide in the rock very well, and typically come out at night. They are excellent predictors (unlike a file fish) and can take down nearly anything it wants to within reason, including fish and inverts like crabs, snails, hermits, etc. very cool critters in my opinion, if you catch one, send it to me, I need another :)

Mantis Shrimp. You will hear a click click click from time to time. That's them punching. If they do it to thin glass, your aquarium will be on your floor. Look up mantis shrimp. Very disappointed losing my fish. I baby that tank.

His name is still killer now....lol.

Not saying you're wrong, but in my short time back in the reefkeeping world, one of the first things I realized is that "no way" and "impossible" are indeed possible.
I know I can be wrong of course but it's just crazy. but this isn't my first Rodeo....very disappointing. It all started from that live rock. I think there are no more snakes in my tank.I keep a good eye on it.

that's what I was going to just suggest. or a few mantis since it's live rock.
If I do..... I have more then one then. My clowns were not tiny. How can one of these eat two clowns in hours and no sign of a crime scene..... Thank you, your all very informing. I will never buy another live rock every again.

Yaaa that fish didn't eat your clowns.

Maybe the clowns are spooked by the new addition and hiding somewhere.

Seriously that's what happened...lol.
Now I'm worried I have something in my tank after having a 5 inch Fireworm and not knowing till it came down from the top when I turned on the light. Crazy!!! Hopefully I killed everything with my javex fix that no one would recommend but it worked.

live rock is still far better in my option. buying corals you can get hitch hikers and fish can bring other diseases.

my the clowns ate each other and your cuc cleaned up the mess? seriously though, I bet mantis. they can pull it inside of the holes in the rock in pieces. did you move any rock around to verify? I know you said you've checked but one of my clowns jumped the wall into the back sump. then I got the in tank separator screen. do you have deep sand? maybe you have something that dragged it under?

Saying a file fish killed your clowns is like saying a cow ate your cat. It just didn’t happen.

Maybe he brought disease in the tank and the clowns died from it.
I had them for over a month but sure could have happened. You would think I would still see them floating at the top waiting for burial. It's going to stay a mystery for now anyways.

just an fyi...you buy the live ocean rock for all the bacteria and fauna you can't get in a bottle. to kill everything on it (or attempt to) you might as well just buy Caribbsea and save the money but have the long wait through ugly stages.
