It will almost be my second year in the hobby in 2 weeks

217 gallon system with corals & fish

My technician usually was a technical advisor. I did the maintenance myself, but he would visit the aquarium; give feedback, and if needed give recommendations on what I would need to do next.

He cost me $90 - $180/month plus I would give a $40 tip.

Given some competing priorities, I needed to find ways to save money and told him I wanted to move away from monthly routine visits to just whenever I needed him.

Can someone provide feedback if it was a bad decision to drop the technician or will I be OK with making this cut from my budget?

At 2 years its time to take the training wheels off
Well put. You've got this Dude. I'm gonna use my LFS in keeping an eye on my tank while I'm gone for longer periods.....You may want to keep his number handy in case you take off for a spell. Neighbors can only do so much as they have no training. I had a GREAT niece that kept my tank up and running while I was gone back in the day. But she was a rarity.
