Hello everyone! I have a small Dino problem currently, and just curious on the expert R2R opinion on the current situation.

Water Parameters:

8.13 Ph - Tested by PinPoint Probe
Salinity - 35 PPT - Tested by Hanna and Refractometer
Phosphate: .02 - Hanna LR tester
Nitrate - 26.2
Magnesium - 1400 tested with Salifert, but honestly not sure if this is accurate
Calcium - 480-500 - Salifert
Alk - 10.3 DKh - Hanna

I've been dosing live Phyto, MB7 every day. MB Clean 1 time a week, per the instructions. The Dino's aren't taking over, and they do seem to be receding some, but just not gone all the way. Any advice on this? Should I just keep going with my current regime? All coral are open and happy. Just worried about the Dino's and if I am battling these things correctly. I've also been feeding Reef Roids to try and get my Phosphate up more. Should I up that t o twice a week? I worry about nutrients skyrocketing though with that.

Tank is a RedSea 450 G1
Livestock:
- 2 Clowns
- 4 Damsels
- 1 Coral Beauty
- 1 Lawnmower Blenny
- 1 Diamond Sand-sifting Goby
- Hermits
- Snails
- 1 Urchin

Any and all advice is welcomed! Thank you!

I assume they are dino's because if I syphon them out, they come back by the next day and they disappear at night.

They kind of look like dinos to me, but a microscope would confirm it.

The phosphate could well be 0 with the accuracy of the LR checker. It wouldn’t hurt to raise the phosphate with reef roids IMO.

Will report back when the microscope gets here. Should be here later today.

Coolia Dinos.

Slightly less toxic. UV may help as they can free swim at night, but may need coaxing to do so with black outs.

Main thing is to raise phosphate and possibly dose silicate. Since they are receding, it sounds like you’re doing the right things.

I joined Mack's Support on FB too. I really appreciate your help on this! I'll look at getting a UV, but the RedSea doesn't seem super customizable and UV's are pretty dang expensive.

Phos is likely 0, MicroBacter I think also helps remove nutrients, so you should does some form of Phospate.

I'm going thru this nightmare right now, and finally decided a UV was in order.

I wouldn’t use UV if it was my tank because it’s already starting to recede. Just keep the phosphate at least 0.10ppm and watch it fade away.

I've been feeding ReefRoids once a week, might need to step that up.

Definitely receding from where it was, it was covering a third of the tank on the left and then another third on the right, the middle however, was clean for the most part. I'll keep waht I'm doing and start feeding RR twice a week and see how that goes. Thank you! I will keep the post updated as I battle this. Might help some other beginner in the future.

I also removed all white light, and reduced blue light significantly, and closed blinds in the house (which my wife hates).
