Do you cover your tank with a net or lid? Are they required? I have a ten gallon fowlr tank with three chromis. Will they jump out if I don't have a lid?

I made one with a kit from d-d “jumpguard pro” I’ve lost too many fish to jumping over the years to leave one off. Even fish that don’t normally jump do sometimes. My clownfish are the most often to hit the net bc they hang out right at the top of my tank and when startled I hear a splash and know my net lid is doing its job.

My 3 tanks are lidless, have been for almost 20 years. In 20 years I had only a small handful of jumpers.

With that said, I am very selective with the my fish choices and I don't overstock. 3 chromis in a 10 gallon is overstocked and kind of cruel to be honest, these fish swim a lot and you crammed 3 of them into a tiny tank. We have to respect the animals we care for.

I'm with @Mr. Mojo Rising on my lack of lids and keeping 3 chromis in a 10g.
I don't think chromis thrive in many of our tanks long enough to reach full adult size. I've seen a couple of full grown adults come in to a lfs and they were 4" fish so IMO a single chromis can outgrow a 10g. Also they are swimmers and should be in larger tanks. I've not had good success with them but when I kept groups they were in 6ft tanks and they would swim the entire length of the tank.
