Do you trust your Apex Temp probe? It's hard for me to say yes. as they all have diff results.

I have 4+ apex temp probes. Two in the bins, as i can't get them to keep a calibration remotely close... and the other two hooked up to the apex and PM2.

I picked up a PINPOINT Calibration Temp probe / thermometer, suppedly accurate to within .02.

Made a batch of RODI and ice water, mixed, let it sit, added more ice to double check the pinpoint and nist probe.
The results: within 1 degree F of 32.00 (32.5)

Put the Pinpoint in the tank, next to the two apex probes. It displays 76.6/76.7.

PinPoint Calibrated Thermometer: 76.6
Apex Probe 1: 78.8
Apex Probe 2: 77.4
Marina Digital Thermometer: 81.4
3x Little black digital Thermometers( Those $3 cheap guys from amazon: 81F, 80F, and 82F..

As you can see, they all vary wildly. What do i trust? Trusting the pinpoint will put me at 78F where i want to be. Or, will i really be at 84F?

I need to source an extremely accurate, analog thermometer, thats Nist trusted and recorded. Guessing is no fun!

I picked up a NIST calibrated thermometer a few years ago and it has been invaluable for things like this and removing the uncertainty. https://a.co/d/g7u0ooX

My experience has been that they all drift a bit over time but having something to recalibrate to and to sanity check every month or so has been great.

I would like to get one from a reputable source. I have been screwed so many times on amazon with fakes. But i agree. I need to get a NIST pre calibrated thermometer. I feel like raising my temperature 3 to 4 points, will be devastating.

Not to mention, i just had an non calibrated, inaccurate Refractometer, leading me thinking 1.021 was 1.025.
