I want to share my DIY set up for a liquid food doser. This is great when I need to go away for a vacation or business trip. I used Goldpods as liquid food since there can be stored at room temperature. I also used one channel off my RedSea Reef doser for pumping Rodi into the bottle to displace food.

I am sitting here feeling more and more stupid not really understanding how this work :face-with-tears-of-joy:

So, the dosing pump is feeding a small amount of RO in to the the container via the syringe- and liquied food is then dispensed in to the tank via the dosing tube coming from the bottom?

Correct. The pressurized bottle forces liquid out of the built in spout that reaches into the bottom.

Yep. These are hand squeeze bottles so the automated pressure introduction by a dosing pump with RO is genius!!

A lot of people struggle to DIY liquid feeders and this is a breakthrough LOL.
Well mate, this one just made it on to my tank for sure! :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Dont you dilute the solution by adding RO to it?
Also pretty sure peristalitc pump (type used by dosing pumps) are able to displace air, since they can self prime.
So you should be able to ditch the RO and just feed air into the bottle.
At least in theory

Month old thread but it's such a cool idea so why not give this a bump.
Dilution could be problematic in that the quantity of food delivered would be less and less each time. Shouldn't be a problem for vacation use and such but I imagine you could program the doser to run longer with each cycle. Air could work but air compresses meaning it will likely be inconsistent as well. For air I would ditch the squeeze bottle as expanding under the pressure would be another variable.
