And how do you connect to the wavemaker? Are you using usb or dc Jack? Any step up converters ?
Yes massive difference, havent actually tested if the estimate is correct though, but should be close. Yes im charging from USB-C, inverter (AC outlet) off and the wavemaker is connected through the car / cigarette lighter port (DC 12v) with a cigarette lighter port contact to DC contact cable straight into the controller. No step up converter.

The tunze pump is slower with 12v but since i was only using 34% at peak with 24v i just increased it to 68% on 12v. Should be and seems to be about the same amount of flow. I might add a step up in the future if i need more flow.

Just a guess but your problems with the Tunze controller not functioning correctly are probably because you are not using the 12 to 24v step up converter when plug into the DC port.

Just a guess but your problems with the Tunze controller not functioning correctly are probably because you are not using the 12 to 24v step up converter when plug into the DC port.
I confirmed with tunze support they can be run in the range 12 - 24 V. Higher voltage gives more power but also draws more power.

The solution to my problems was charging the ecoflow through USB-C instead of AC. Somehow AC chagring made the dc port unstable.

The battery died an hour ago so it lasted 67 hours. Kind of worrying is that the % seemed way off though, when it suddenly died it was at like 30%.

I'm very happy with my ecoflow river 2. I picked up on black Friday sales as well for super cheap. Running the largest sicce wave maker I get 10 hours. I personally think that great given how small and compact they are. Personally never tried that outlet and didn't know you could get more hours from that configuration. I thought though that electronics had to run at the voltages and wattages they are designed for or they malfunction. Now that's a simple terms here, I am no means an expert. But if Tunze says it can run off 12v then maybe it's the way the controller works and needs AC vs DC if it was a constant draw. I really don't know, I'm not sparky lol

Thats right they need to run at the correct voltage. The tunze pumps are designed to be able to run in the range 12-24v. 12v works, as does 19v and 24v.

The better run time is mainly because the AC port has to convert dc from the battery to ac, and then the ac adapter for your pump has to convert back to dc which is very inefficient. Through the dc port there is no conversion and no power loss, straight from battery to pump.

In my case i got even more run time since pump normally runs on 24v and i run it on 12v. Less flow but also less power draw.

So I just did a test on my return pump
I researched how best to run it off dc
The power supply is 24v / 2.5a

I found a 12v dc cigarette lighter laptop charger that will output and step up to 24v. However…it came with a usbc to universal dc barrel plug cable and a bunch of barrel plug tips. I found a tip that matched my dc return pump controller then did some test hooking up to usbc directly

1) Ac / dc standard power brick test
Pump Display - 40% power / 15w draw
Battery Station display outputting- 17w

*Remove ac wall power

Station displaying 15 output watts
37 hours runtime

Not bad…37 hours off the inverter. But it’s still a waste to go from dc battery to inverter that outputs ac, just to go into a brick that converts back to dc

Usbc can support 20v and higher depending on the usbc version…

2) Dc usbc cable test - pump controller dc barrel Jack is adapted directly to usbc and connected to battery backup usbc

Pump Display - 40% power / 10w draw
Battery Station display outputting - 10w

*Remove ac wall power

Station display outputting - 10w
57 hours runtime

A 54% increase in runtime, with no reduction in my pumps output power, by a mere cable swap. Note: the cable has to be rated for min 24v
