Last year I had a fire shrimp and when I did a water change it molted the next day. The next water change I did it died. I got a new fire shrimp two weeks ago, I did a water change, again this one molted. Since then I have also bought a skunk shrimp, I also figured out that the temperature of the fresh water was off by 4 degrees and I have bought a new heater to fix that problem. However im still worried that im going to kill my shrimps. Could it be something other than the difference in temperature? Im doing a 15% water change weekly and I mix and heat my salt for at least 8hrs before adding. The salt is reef crystals
Thanks.

Temp of freshwater?
You mean saltwater right?
If so, yup, temp can kill…especially fast changes…
Yea the clean salt water. So it definitely is the difference in temp? Its a 40g tank and im doing a 5g change give or take. 4 degrees seems like such a small change to stress out the shrimp to that degree.

It’s maybe not as much the degree change as the speed it dropped.

Not definitive that temp was the main contributor.
Moving quickly from lower salinity to higher salinity is trouble as well.

My water changes only affect temp by 1 degree.
