Lol you are VERY correct sir. Just checked. Thank you! But how can I add it to my system if I can't drink it??? Or can I just put it on when I'm needing the RODI water and take it off when I'm not using it?
You can split the water line after the RO filter, have one line that you use for RO drinking water and another line feeds the DI canister(s) for your tank water.

If you go on Innovative Marines website and check out their Nuvo INT (interior overflow) and Nuvo EXT (exterior overflow) aquariums there are pictures and diagrams of their plumbing. They use Bean Animal ( three drain) plumbing .
I'll check that out, thank you! Are they expensive or are you just saying that so I could see the style of plumbing?

I think you can handle it :)

They're not cheap but have a fairly good rep on R2R . I have an IM 75EXT . Really like it so far , about nine months in. I was suggesting you have a look at the plumbing to get some ideas.

I just found this post. Maybe you already “got it”. But reading through all the comments at once, I’m not sure if you are clear on RODI situation. I’ll just try to sum it up concisely and explain why.

You need to mix salt with RODI to fill your tank. Then some water will evaporate leaving salt behind increasing salinity. You need to replace this evaporated water with pure RODI. And then you will also need to do regular water changes, where you remove saltwater and replace with new saltwater once again mixed from RODI and salt.

The reason is: city water is treated and contains chemicals and elements that can be harmful for fish and coral. Such as chlorine or chloramines. And more than that, even things that are good like calcium and magnesium or alkalinity can be a problem when mixing salt. Which is why adding a dechlorinater like you could with fresh water is not sufficient. The companies that make salt mixes are including those elements at the appropriate levels but they are assuming you are starting with water with levels of zero. For example if you buy a salt mix that is formulated at 11dkh but your city water is already 9dkh you’d end up with 20dkh with is way to high.

On a separate note, I wouldn’t skimp on the plumbing design. You want something fail safe, and proven. And even if the plain you come up with works, will it be silent? Gurgling can suck the joy out of sitting and watching a beautiful tank. It should be peaceful and relaxing

So actually I DO NOT have the RODI, just the RO system lol. Do they sell a RODI system to connect to a hose outside or something? If I can't drink the water than I don't have anywhere inside the house that I can put it.
Im sure you can buy an adapter at home depot
