53 gal

Total system water volume

45 gal

Display tank water vol.

35.4”

Display tank Length

21.7”

Display tank width

19.7”

Display tank height

Tank atm has one clown, one dotty back and one bengai cardinal.

Was thinking of adding one gamma, 5 Chromis and a Midas blenny. A big fish would be nice too.

Those dotty backs can be real mean sometimes.
Royal gramma also can be a little territorial.
I wouldn’t add the gramma with the dotty back.
The chromis and blenny seem good.
You don’t want anything to big in that size of tank, unless you plan on rehoming it or getting a larger tank. I have the same tank as you and have a smaller powder brown tang in it but I plan on getting a larger system in about a year.

Have you thought about one of the smaller wrasses?
You have a number of nice ones that you could have for an addition of colour.
Here’s a couple of the ones you could have (I don’t own the Pintail in the last photo).

What do you think to just a mesh lid? I find they’re often invisible and protect fish from jumping (just a thing to remember, all fish can jump they just need to have that one reason and they’re out ;)).

Also, another one to think about, Multicolour Angels! I love mine, I have had her for just under a week but today she hit the 5 foot with 3 wrasses.

I’ll get a lid just not right now, aren’t angels too big for this tank or eat corals?

A pygmy angel would be fine, 3 inches tops. But yes its an angel, they all can eat coral

So, most will be too big but the Multicolour is a much smaller species, maxing out at around 3-3.5 inches in the biggest of cases (most will get about 2.5 and stop or slow enough to seem stopped in growth).
As for eating corals… it’s a risk but here’s the evidence it can work (please ignore the net);

This tank has 3 angels right now, and has/had;
Regal Angel -removed as I wanted to pair him to a female but unfortunately he passed in QT
Majestic Angel - Still in the tank and touching nothing other than the sponges she naturally eats anyway
Flame Back Angel - Currently due to be removed as he is too aggressive for what I want the tank to be.
Multicolour Angel - Just added earlier today but so far good as gold and pecking sponges and other microfauna on the rock

This isn’t to say they won’t eat corals, it’s just to say you can do it if you know what coral to avoid. Anything fleshy - although Acans have worked with my lot previously, I unintentionally killed them due to being knocked into the sand.
But Gonis, Torches, Hammers, Softies, Acros all work with me! Stylophora does get munched but that was mostly by my Butterfly rather than the angels.

I wouldn’t recommend a Flame Back though - many call them Pygmy angels but whilst mine is 3.5-4 inches, he sure is aggressive in a 5 foot 180G tank.
Most other Pygmy’s are quite peaceful though - Multicolours are what I find to be the most peaceful, followed by the fisheri and flavicauda

Most smaller Cirrhilabrus (Fairies), Halichoeres and Macropharyngodon (Leopards) should work in that tank. Pseudojuloides if you want to eventually dip your toes into more finicky wrasses too.

Are leopard warsses hard to feed?
They can be, most of the time however that is faced by the LFS/FS assuming you’ve got a good one nearby or that you can source from.
