I need ideas for some active swimmers. I have an exquisite wrasse and two blood orange clowns right now. The clowns stay by the anemone so there isnt much movement around the tank. Also I keep macroalgae in the display so no tangs or any algae eaters. I know this cuts my choices down alot but I really like the how the macros looks. 55 gal tank

I would suggest a group of 3 to 5 Blue/Green Chromis. I have 4 in my 120 gal tank and when the lights r blue they almost glow. Plus they r known for free swimming.

Any chance you have a pic of the almost glowing Chromis? I’d love to see that :)

LOL!!! I can try and take one. It is like someone is using a black light on them, their lips, eyes and fins glow.

More Wrasses would be the best option. Chromis IMHO are a poor option given the number with uronema disease and they tend to pick eachother off over time. A different option would be to hold out for an atlantic longnose butterflyfish.

One of the smaller flasher wrasse would be a good addition but I'd also consider a small group of allens damsels.

You need a tight fitting lid or else you won't have the wrasse for long. Once you have a tight fitting lid, two or three small docile Flasher and Fairy wrasses is what you need. I suggest Lubbock Fairy and several of the Flashers like Yellow fin, McCosker and Blue Flasher. Don't let the name Blue Flasher fool you, they also deserving call Peacock Flasher.

I have a tight fitting lid because of the exquisite wrasse I have, can I keep different wrasses in a 55 gallon tank without them fighting?

Some of the wrasses are compatible with each other, you need to choose them carefully. IME, Lubbock and Exquisite are the to small ones that I have experienced with personally, that do well with each other. Each of the one I mentioned were personal experience.
@Slot, Looking at the picture you posted, I don't think the lid is tight fitting. 1/4 inch gap is all they need to go through. Wrasse does look up and go for the opening, in-addition to randomly do straight up.

Chromis, but you need a fair amount at least 5-7, to keep the social aggression down so they don’t pick each other off. I’ve had 11 with a bunch of anthias for over 1.5 years without them killing each other.

Sorry, server error cause me to posted it twice.
The bracket holding my light fixture to the tank holds my lid up about a quarter inch, so I'll definitely find a way to seal it better. Thanks for the help! I'm looking into getting another wrasse as soon as I find a way to cover the tank

Pictures IMHO don't do the Lubbock's Wrasse justice. Here is one in action:

I have a tight fitting lid. I lost a wrasse who tried to jump and hit the lid so hard it caused internal bleeding. Before that I really enjoyed him.

Yes, I did a necropsy.
