Funny Barnacle Blennies (Acanthemblemaria macrospilus)

I saw these fish in a past thread and thought I would try them out. An LFS found them for me. These are really funny fish to watch! While they are totally ignoring the beautiful barnacle homes that I got them, they appear to like lounging on the gravel in the front glass.

Here are a couple shots of them "talking" to each other, then staring in open mouthed awe as a snail glides by:

lol...they are awesome! Are they that small or is your substrate that large? lol. Your sand looks like rocks next to those fish! : )

The fish are only about 3/4" to 1" in length, so everything looks big compared to them! Look at the size of the snail in the last picture to see the size relationship to the fish.

Nice!! How long have you had them and are they eating regularly? I've had them in the past and while they always ate, they just withered away slowly. When they find a hole they like, or an actual barnacle, its awesome to watch them zip in and out when feeding.

Great video!! Mine are eating very well, but do not go into the barnacles I placed on the bottom. Instead, they seem to find small spaces to back into on the very bottom of the tank between the rocks.
