Hey,

I currently have a 75gallon sumpless tank (primarily soft but getting some LPS) and my phos is reading at 1.0 consistently. Alk is high, around 11, I think this is due to using IO which mixes around 10. I have a XP sumpless ATO that acts as a small skimmer and wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on replacing the carbon media bag with GFO? I also use a cannister filter and could put it in there but I read it wouldn’t tumble the GFO enough to really see a difference.

Dosing calc/mag x2/week with reef advantage manually. HOB Refugium on the way with Chaeto.

Salifert testing:
Mag 1270
Calc 390
Nitrate 5
Phos 1.0
Alk 11.1
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0

The bag of gfo will work in the canister, I've used in hob fitlers before. I don't know if you get maximum effectiveness, but you do get some benefit.

But check out the 2 little fishies hob reactor or the aquaready hob reactor, they are both relatively cheap and good quality (I think the aquaready brand is better though). I've used them both, it makes it easier to see and control.

Thanks for advice, I’ll check those out:)
