Tunze Comline 9012 in the back corner of an IM25. It’s big but works great.

Hooked to outside air, it raised my night ph from 7.8 to 8.1

My last skimmer was an E.T.S.S. 400. It was HARD to dial in, but once it was there I was golden. My next will be an RO Regal 200-SSS

Ive only had one skimmer which is nyos 160. It's a pain to restart after it gets turned off and the skimming seems ok..not great. Again..I'm a novice here as I ran my tank for 2.5 years without one. Grabbed a reef octo 220 elite for my 300 gallon tank when I set it up...hoping it's better and less finicky.

Simplicity 240 DC On 133 gallon water volume. Very very quiet. And pulls some nasty skimmate. Almost works too well. Nutrients are very low right now.

I didn’t get it from Amazon but it was this same style model from a different site.
Don’t laugh, it actually takes out nasty stuff from my nano and has been for more than 2 years now. The suction cups suck though and I replaced them with an old mag float I had lying around. I also replaced the wooden airstone with an Eheim airstone. I feel like now is the right time though to get a ‘real’ skimmer. Suggestions?

Tunze Comline 9004
I’ve been using this skimmer in my 120-liter tank and have been mostly happy with its performance. However, over time, it has become noisy, and there are some air bubbles leaking from a seam in the case.

Bubble Magus Curve 5 Elite w/CO2 reactor on a Red Sea Reefer 170. Best Skimmer I’ve had, nothing but thick brown skimmate, fast break in.

On my recent build, I researched a lot of options, narrowed it to Royal Exclusiv or Reef Octo. I ultimately went with a Reef Octo Regal 250 INT on a 300 gallon system and have been very happy with it. Easy to dial in, lots of available accessories, powerful skimming, reliable. The Royal Exclusiv is probably better built. I use their return pumps, which are impressive, but I felt Reef Octo had the better line up of accessories and was a way better value for the price.

I’ve been using an old Royal Exclusiv Bubble King Mini 160 and it works great.

I also just started using an Ultra Reef UKS-180, so I can’t say how well it’s going to work. However so far it is producing a think foam and the build quality is amazing.

I have run a bunch of different skimmers over the years my favorites have been Tunze, Reef Octo and I just started using a Royal Exclusive double cone 250 that is a beast of a skimmer and super easy to tune.

just switched from the Aquamax 1.5 to reef octo 1000 for a 45 gal AIO. I couldnt make the Aquamax work decently. Inlet plugged up easily/often and pump clogged. Maintenace was annoying. Sounded like a john deere tractor too. The reef octo seems to working much more efficiently. Had to add an overflow outlet for the skimmer cup. For what its worth.

I have the Bubble Magus Curve 5 on one tank and the Curve 7 Elite on my other tank. I went with them because they were relatively cheap compared to other brands. I don't recommend them. I've had issues with the pumps getting stuck too easily and it's very sensitive to water level changes. This morning I woke up to a full container of skim mate because it randomly decided to go crazy. Seems to happen once every 1-2 weeks. Very frustrating.
