Elegance corals are known for being a little tricky, so your success with it really speaks volumes!

It's unfortunate that you lost some prized corals to brown jelly disease, but it's great that you're focusing on easier corals now, especially after the reset. Sometimes scaling back and simplifying can actually lead to a much healthier, more stable system in the long run.

If you ever want to share tips on how you've been keeping your Elegance coral so happy or your experience with transitioning to easier corals, I’d love to hear more! Plus, with your experience, I’m sure others can learn a lot from your approach to resetting and going forward with a more manageable setup.

Don't forget to tag a fellow reefer to be entered in the giveaway!
Thank you. I have found that they really don't like detritus and they don't like being shaded. They also go through an adjustment phase where they will look terrible with typical symptoms. Swelling, tentacle reaction/loss, white string covering, even fully retracted. I actually have a post about rehabbing one in past. Went back and tagged someone lol.

Well... my tank isn't very interesting at the moment. Mainly because it's empty:

I'm currently working on my 'scape:
20250225_192056.jpg

I'm hoping to be ready for water in 3 or 4 weeks - still have a lot of stuff to buy, too. Fortuntately, I have some exceedingly experienced reefers from my local club nearby to help ensure success, who have suggested a live start with a few hardy corals.

In the unlikely event I should win (I've never won anything I didn't actually earn, but hey, here's to hoping: "you miss every shot you don't take", right?) and my tank isn't mature enough for what is on offer, I am sure the same people would be happy to host them in their grow-out tanks until I was ready.

The thing I think that makes my planned design unique is the remote "display refugium" I am setting up.
20250121_222419.jpg

This will sit just to the left of my display tank, where it will effectively work as a nano/pico, sharing water with the main tank with about 100 - 160 gph of flow. It will run on a reverse lighting cycle, hosting decorative macro algae (instead of just a mass of chaeto or caulerpa), a small CUC, a nem, perhaps a few corals and eventually some sexy shrimp, a decorator crab and a lettuce sea slug. As a bonus, it will increase my total water volume from 50 to 64g.

I spend about 80% or more of my waking hours in my home office - far longer than any sane daylight cycle should ever run. This way, my family and I can enjoy the tank(s) no matter the time of day and still get controlled nutrient export without having to run and maintain multiple independent systems.

I always have an issue with rock mess even when I use cardboard lol. Wife is very patient with me lol. I do same thing by placing piece of cardboard down same size as tank.

Your plan sounds awesome, and I can already see the potential for something unique and beautifully functional! A remote display refugium is a fantastic idea, and it's so cool that you're adding a decorative twist with macro algae and a small CUC. I love that you’re thinking about creating a space that both serves a purpose and enhances the aesthetic of your tank.

Heh. I wish this were the same size as my tank.

It's hard to see in the reduced size of the pic, but viewed in full, you can just see to either side where I've marked off the lines of the 34" width; the line for the 14" of depth up front is a little harder to make out.

I know the tank is smallish, but I'd swear it looks a lot bigger on the inside, sitting next to it while empty, than the work area does when I'm trying to decide what goes in it where, heh.

Lol. My tank can sit in yours several times over lol. I would love to have space to create a tank that replicates this for a tank.

@Fish & Coral Store I think I looked on your website but didn't see corals you were selling. Do you have a link to corals available for purchase? Would like to browse.
Currently going through a website reconstruction, we are entering a huge partnership and plan on having live inventory of our Fish and Coral. Should happen within a week or two.

Here is some of the stock we have right now.

Is there anything in particular you are looking for?

Sorry for going so fast on the videos but you can pause and ask any questions!

Taken in .5 angle on ipone (might have a weird look)
