This tank is for sale on facebook, what are these things on the sides? I’ve been looking for a reef tank similar to this but it seems overly complicated. Let me know what you think.

That looks very complicated and Im not sure what Im looking at! Lol but cool measurements though.

I 2nd, "closed loop". It's a means of using a single pump to randomly circulate water throughout the tank.

It's an old school means but still has its purposes.

They're not hard to figure out and fairly easy to maintain. Keeping in mind there are some draw backs to them, you can easily read up about them and decide for yourself.
