Has anyone switched from All For Reef to 2-part and saw better growth?

I’ve never switched from AFR to two part but I have some thoughts.

It’s possible there might be increased growth if the 2-part recipe boosts pH. Higher pH is often associated with more coral growth.

In the other hand, the trace elements in AFR may be good for coral growth and health. If trace elements become limited when using 2-part the results might be negative.

I’ll be interested in responses of people who have switched, which I expect is most often driven by cost. I am not sure you’ll be able to conclude that one is better than the other. Both are effective.

Here’s the thing though I agree and especially in my experience and current practice higher ph.
I’ve seen sps dominant tanks that have a peak ph of 8 during the daylight and the corals were growing like weeds. I’ve only come across a few but it always made me scratch my head.

Yes, I fully attribute the crazy increase of growth to a sky high pH. Switched to NaoH/CaCl2 dosing 8 months ago with a pH high of 8.6 during the day. Used to be 7.8

Sure, plenty of great tanks with lower pH that have fast growth. Also plenty of great tanks with really high phosphate. But I wouldn’t target low pH or high phosphate. I think the exceptions show us that there lots of paths to great tanks, but some of those paths are wider and smoother.
