I woke up around 530 this morning and saw some apex alarms on my phone. I got up to check the fish room and found that my 55 gallon brute which had 50 gallons of new salt water had toppled and probably spilled 35 gallons on the carpet. It fell on a Rubbermaid tote which kept it from spilling all of the water. I had a powerhead plugged in with the extension cord placed nice and safe on top of the lid, or I thought it was safe. It got wet when the can fell over, luckily the gfci tripped. My initial reaction was a burgler, but there were no signs of that. It was just me in the house last night. My thought now is that possibly 2 of the wheels were facing in causing it to be imbalanced, they just have one size dolly and it fits 20 gallon all the way to 55. There's alot of can overhanging on the 55. Luckily it's old carpet that I haven't got around to replacing with tile yet. What a completely random thing to happen. That can has been full of water for over a week and hasn't moved from where it was. No more dolly under the 55....

No, no pets. A few fat tangs on the other side of the wall, don't think they could pull that one off.

How big of a powerhead? Could have been a perfect storm, maybe the power tripped at some point, causing the powerhead to stop and restart, causing a jerk if its mounted to the side of the tub, if the wheels were turned the right way it may have been enough to tip. Got yourself a whole Final Destination situation.

I think maybe I had the 25 gallon wedged up against it. Maybe when I pulled the lids off yesterday to verify the salinity I replaced the lid where it put pressure against the 55? I don't know. I like the ghost theory. With 50 gallons of water in the 55 I can not even roll it across the carpet a little bit. I'll drain it here in a bit and check the dolly out. With 15 or so gallons of water in there it rolls fine and is not leaning or anything. About a dozen towels on the floor now. Might be a good time to call the tile guy over...
