Common bristleworm and reef safe although not welcomed in my tanks are considered clean up crew and eats uneaten food and detritusIs this work safe? Sorry for the many questions. Just got my live rocks in today and they don't look familiar to the hitchhikers guides.
What is this? Is it good or bad?
Those are both kinds of polychaetes (bristleworms) - most polychaetes that we get in the hobby are harmless/beneficial (minus occasional pokes from the bristles), but a few may be harmful. Is this work safe? Yeah, I would guess that's a fire worm - it seems to have a caruncle, so that would be a fireworm; but I can't tell for sure from the pic. To verify if it has one, see the link below:
anyone know what a fireworm really looks like?

As a general rule, unless it has 5 tentacles on its head; a very distinct, rounded head with no bristles on it (and typically no visible tentacles); or a caruncle on the head (with or without visible, feathery gills by the bristles); the worm is good.
For examples of not-so-good worms:
-Five tentacles (I'm sure someone has clearer pics somewhere for these):
-Rounded, bristle-free head:
-Caruncle:Hoping its not Oenone fulgida worm
Hey everyone thanks for checking in. I've had this tank running for around a month now and I started it with a mix of live rock from my lfs and the rock from my previous tank. I started noticing these worms a couple weeks after I added the rock. They are bright yellow with a slight green shimmer...www.reef2reef.com
