Hi everyone,

I have a 64L AQPET tank with a mix of soft and LPS corals, and I’m looking for advice on easy-to-set light settings. I’d like to showcase the fluorescence of the corals but also having the light on without making the tank overly blue.

Lately, I’ve been struggling to find the right balance. Over the past month, I’ve tried various setups, but none have been great for the corals. I want to avoid stressing them with this adjustment.

Does anyone have suggestions or tips for light settings that work well in a setup like this?

Thanks in advance!

Assuming you have a controller that adjust at least the white & blue channels.

First, I'll say that if you change the lights... some corals might show their butts for a few days, then straighten out. Or the opposite could happen. You can adjust the lights and the coral looks fine for two weeks, then shows it's butt. More on that later.

If your tank is too blue for your liking, take the whites up 5% while bringing the blues down 5% at the same time. This will be a low net change.

I know you don't want to hear this part, but I have to say it: If you make a lighting change, it should be a small one... and you should give it a month to see if anything is being negatively affected. Then make another change, if you want. Repeat until you get the look you want and everything is happy.
