Hi, I’m Sara! I recently got into the aquarium hobby and currently have a freshwater tank with a Betta, loaches, tetras, and cherry barbs.

I’m really interested in setting up a marine tank, but I’ve been getting mixed advice lately, and it feels a bit overwhelming!

This is my first time here, so please be kind! Looking forward to learning more and connecting with fellow enthusiasts.

Hi Sara and welcome to R2R! Please feel free to ask lots of questions.

You will get conflicting advice from time to time as there is more than one way to keep a successful reef tank. My best advice is to be patient, take things slowly and try to pick a few online mentors. Always weigh the advice against your own budget, time constraints, desires and common sense. Just because something works for me does not automatically mean it will work for you. When you find someone that seems to 'get' what you are trying to accomplish, check out their build thread, if they have one, to see if their tank resonates with your goals.

Good luck, most of the advice you get on R2R will be good advice but not necessarily the best advice for you. Like any online forum/media be discerning.
