I have a Fluval flex 32 and want to upgrade my light but the Fluval ones are overpriced and not even that good. I’ve heard the ai ones are good but it would require me losing the tank hood and a clear one like the kraken ones are too expensive. What’s the consensus on going hood less? Also if you guys have any recommendations on good lights for a fair price let me know!

All my tanks have been hoodless since I started about 25 years ago. IMO If the tank is understocked and peacefully stocked with happy fish, there is little chance of jumping in my experience.

I have a nicrew 100 watt on my 32 gallon, works perfect for me, I like the color, and its strong enough to grow any kind if coral.

Yes, 1 fixture 100 watt for 32 gallon is fine, I run it at 75% actually.

The 150 watt is just slightly more if I remember, that will work too, but you will need to turn it down a little.

I run 3 tanks all open top. All fish can jump so there is a risk but some are more prone than others. I don't stock fish that are known as jumpers. As @Mr. Mojo Rising mentioned having a peaceful tank can make a world of difference. All of my tanks are peaceful. I have a lot of activity but it isn't fish chasing / terrorizing other fish.

I keep them also in two tanks. Maybe I'm just lucky :thinking-face: I also have coral banded shrimp and a harlequin.
