Does anyone know how exactly DinoX works or what exactly it contains ?
It apparently stops the Dino metabolising and therefore it dies off. The ingredients are listed on the bottle. Doesn’t look great and warning about how it can hurt the environment.

So far I’m on the second dose and it’s been fine 0 issues this far it’s the calculating the exact amount of water that’s the hard part. I had to really try hard to calculate.

I had dinos. Honestly I'm not really sure what I did. UV, blowing off rock, 3 day black out. . I think adding mb7 phosphate, nitrates, coral and mainly time made them go. It's just a phase and it can take time just gotta be patient

My friend I tried that for nearly 12 months. So, I’m sorry it may be a phase, but it’s not one im willing to deal with for another year :)

I have two types of Dino large cell and the one that starts with 0.

Nothing worked I have UV tried. Nitrate dossing everything you can think of, I tried it and nothing worked.

So far the one that starts with o is gone in two doses from Dino x. The large cell on the sand is the one that’s hanging in there longer but still reduced by 50% in two doses.

So added Dino x last night, corals are fine look happier than before. Dino is down by half at least from what it was the other few days.
Dino X will possibly kill the dinos, but then it will kill the coral and ruin the biome in the tank.

Eventually you'll replace the coral and the Dinos will return for sure.

You need to cure the problem, not treat the symptoms.

Doing that takes time, because it requires the tank to stabilise which your tank is not doing because you are fiddling too much.

It may take many months to find a cure.

no i cured my dinos before i found out about it, but i 100% would have bought it, simply for the testimonials of people that have used it. you should join that facebook group. here is a post from today, a testimonial of that wand. from just today alone, there are hundreds. here is the post and that group here

Well I’m willing to loose corals because if this doesn’t work, I’m freaking done with saltwater all together. It’s been nothing but h*ll since I started it. Been nothing but a waste of my time and money and for What? I get the same love out of my freshwater tanks.

I do not love this saltwater tank I am actually hating it, not sure why anyone would bloody stay with this when these freaking dinos keep taking hold over and over and over and over and over. I’m tired of this. Im over it.

I’m at the point where I’m fine loosing all the bloody corals if it means no more Dino. I’ll just keep the inverts and the fish at that point because im
Over this crap. Everyday it’s getting worse and worse.

I’ve wasted my time and money on this tank buying bacteria, pods, silicate dossing, two powerful UV filters, nutrient dosing and monitoring, siphoning (only making it worse). All the advice I’ve taken from the stores and from people here have NOT HELPED so, I’m at the point where I’m fine risking it with Dino x if that means it’s gone, doesn’t come back.

I will say.. instead of buying all the pods.. bacteria.. UV... etc and wasting time for a year....

One could have bought all live ocean rock from tampa or kpa or such.

I never had dino with ocean rock, only LFS "live rock" and dry rock.

It is expensive though so I generally only buy ALL live fresh ocean rock for nano's. It would be 1000's of dollars to fill a 100g. Possibly still worth it though lol

only 2 things cause dino. bottomed out nutrients or no live rock/healthy biome. the reason dino's are exploding now, and they werent a decade ago, is 1.) all the dry dead rock people use, and then they crank up the lights before a healthy bacterial colony has set on the rock, and 2.) all the advanced filtration, reallly good skimmers, refugiums, bottom out people nutrients. its why every new tank is getting dino now. 100% agree if they got ocean rock and live sand, they would avoid dino.

Dino x does kill the Dino, it doesn’t affect the biological activity of the tank. I’ve read up on this and contacted the company. Bacteria is unaffected by the Dino x and Dino x is used in many coral stores, and it’s used by professionals whom clean and maintain million dollar home aquariums.

I’m sorry this feels a bit like fear mongering.

Dino itself left unchecked will kill corals too? Sooooo???

I’ve tried everything people have told me to for nearly 1 year mate! Didn’t work! Yall keep talking about months, im talking about years.

You keep saying “don’t fiddle with things”, yet, you’re the same people saying “dose this, add this, change this, supplement this” that’s a lot of fiddling with things mate

I’m in Vancouver Canada mate. I don’t have access to real ocean rock. The real ocean rock we have isn’t actually real ocean rocks. It’s cured live rock. I’ve searched for real ocean rock with 0 luck.

Big als calls Theirs live ocean rock but when I called them (in another province) they said it was just cured rock also.

Not sure if Canada or my province has regulations on the selling of ocean harvested rocks

When I asked my specialty store about getting line ocean rock in the guy laughed and said that’s really not possible. So I don’t know how to get that rock. If I could I would. I would rather spend 1000$ on a fix for this than spend.
1000$ on additives that have done 0 thus far.

Thanks for the advice, sadly I can’t utilises it even though I totally would and want to

So today pulsing Xenia were not happy after second dose yesterday. Opened not pulsing. I know this can indicate low or high KH and Ph. The Dino x wanted about a ph drop did a test dropped from 8.3- 7.4. Kh from 11.5-8.

Added some reef buffer Xenia opened and happy again. I wonder if these changes are what have killed others corals when dosing Dino x.

Nutrients (nitrate) I had a hard time getting above 1ppm with Dino’s present. Now that Dino x is killing them and finally nitrates are stable at 6 ppm. I think this is because the Dino’s are now no longer STEALING and absorbing nutrients from everything else.

People say it’s low nutrients that cause the Dino, I’ve now been reading it’s the Dino consuming the nitrate and phos at such high amounts that it drops the nitrate to 0 and that was my experience I believe because I was dossing neonitro with little changes to nitrate level before the biggest outbreaks.

your xenia will be dead within another week. the dino x will kill it. im telling you the company lies. im only trying to help. and when that guy said dont fiddle, while i cant speak for him, i think he meant to say dont fiddle with harsh chemicals. because things like bacteria or phyto is all natural and wil only help not hurt. hell, to this day, i still dose those two, and i dont even have dino anymore. in case you didnt know, dino X is methylethlamine, a chemicall used by agriculturists to kill plants. its toxic to corals. the company is lying. are there some people out there who used it and didnt have their corals die, sure im sure theres a few. but the majority of people who complain about losing corals, did not all overdose.
there are hundreds of people who swear by that wand i linked, i would do that over the dino X. but you do what you feel is best.

At the end of the day it’s an Algecide and kills good and bad algae’s.

While it killed my Dino’s, it shrunk quite a few corals as well, just like peroxide may do.

Adding some pods, stabilizing nutrients, cleaning socks daily, vacuuming lightly but keeping water and a UV worked in about 4 weeks.

Ya it's a rough reefing life in Canada, no diversity, no much for medications if you fish get the plague.

Do they sell corals there attached to rock? I have found some cool diverse stuff on those rocks. Usually comes in on softies/mariculture.

All the experienced folks here are telling you the same thing.

Chemicals and additives are not the solution to the problem - they will only make it worse.

The solution is PATIENCE.
There is nothing easy about a reef tank despite what you may see on Youtoob.

Take a step back and stop adding stuff to the tank.

I disagree with you entirely. Sorry. I think large reefs are harder to maintain than a nano reef ecosystem. Nanos usually cycle and establish faster. The same rule applies to freshwater environments. Larger always takes longer to establish.

I’m sorry, ive heeded the advice of countless hobbyists here which made my situation worse.

At this point in time I’m not asking you for advice on why I should not use dino x. I’m telling you I am using it and will continue to use it and share MY experience.

The advice others gave me was crap and it was KILLING my corals. They are the happiest I’ve ever seen them using dino x now that the dinos toxins are not being produced.

They are fully open, their colours is so vibrant I’m loving it!

So forth dose the other day, corals looking great.

One thing I want to mention as I document my experience is that the PH and KH drop everyday. So I’m buffering daily to maintain the PH KH which is something that has only started since the dosing of Dino X. Other than that, 99.9% dino free crystal clear water, nitrates have finally balanced out since the fino has been taken care of (Dino was consuming the nitrates keeping them low) 0 deaths of corals, fish, inverts etc. corraline and some green alage is still growing beautifully.

I think people loose their corals because they are not checking water parameters daily and these ph and kh swings for sensitive corals would probably kill them because they are not minor swings they are actually pretty large. 8.3-7.6 ph everyday, Kh 12-10.5 everyday.

I’d assume that’s why people loose corals not really from the Dino x but it’s side effects.

Does anyone know how exactly DinoX works or what exactly it contains ?
It's basically an algaecide. That's why the bottle says to remove any macro algae.
