I also took time to make sure my aquascape doesn’t go above the top 50% of my tank so they have a good bit of open space above the aquascape as well to swim
By the looks of your "rock work", you have only eliminated half of the tank from swimming space. Most of your tangs can't swim between the rocks.

In my 900xxl:
Elbi Mimic, Purple, Scopas & two spot
In my 750XXL : Atlantic blue and Ora Yellow

yeah tangs get a LOT bigger in the wild, I did some snorkeling in the Caribbean on Vacation: Doctorfish and Blues are bigger than crappies
…. All of are captive fish are stunts (more or less) it becomes a matter of how healthy and optimal you want your specimens to look….often stunts look a lil off or weird without enuff swim space …
…Just no substitute for length sometimes

230 gallons, 5. Pushing the limits here a bit - not planning any more fish and definitely not any tangs.
Sailfin, Scopas, 2x Yellow, Tomini. 3 of them are in the pic.

I have one in my 75.
20240920_194032.jpg
Been going on 10 years now.
Rescue fish.
When I got him/her there was barely a back fin and terrible HLLE.
Fine now.
No matter what size tank I've had in 35 years of the hobby I've always only kept one per tank.
This is the smallest tank I've ever had one in. Years ago I had a 150.
I kept 2 angels and one powder blue.
That was it.
I had 4 rocks, bare bottom, trickle filter.
As this fish grows I am upset with myself that there's not enough room for him but, as life goes, we'll be moving in a few years out of the area and I can't see setting up a much bigger tank.
When we adopt these creatures we must appreciate them and respect them.
Some hobbiests are better at that than others.
I am never going to police people for what they do however if you go and start a thread such as this one, you must be asking yourself if you are in fact doing the right thing.

That’s awesome
Considering you think this is awesome, it's no wonder your judgement is so flawed and you're packing that many tangs into a basic 125.

Not just small ones either, I bet half of your large tangs wouldn't even be able to turn perpendicular in your tank without smacking their face and tail off the glass.

You say they're healthy and happy because they aren't sick, well I've been to zoos where they pack a pride of lions in an acre of concrete. But they're happy because they aren't sick and are being fed, right?

Yes. You won't see them sold at this size; few survive in the hobby long enough to get full size. They're pushing 4 inches long now.
They are super cool! Love them!

That’s also science it’s mostly about observation
No, that is not science. You are not generating a testable hypothesis. You are not designing a study. You are not doing science. You are subjecting animals to conditions in which they must survive and making deductions based on what you see when you are looking at them. You haven't passed the first step of the scientific method, AND you're doing it all wrong. I don't usually harp on peoples' tanks, but I have to agree with @BeanAnimal and I'm sure many others here. Your tank, your choices, but there's no "science" here.

Most were acanthus only the yellow and koi were not. Texas freeze wiped them out though.

They all actually swim in and out of the cave the caves may not look as big as they are in the pics but they are always swimming thru the rock work of the tank

Some of my caves are at least 5 inches wide and about 10 inches tall
