My sump produces micro bubbles, that I would like to get rid of for the addition of a sponge. Any ideas on How can I do this without the addition of filter socks?

I tried dialing in my drain the best I can which make a HUGE difference, but they still keep coming back. Pictures attached

I am fine with running socks for a week or so to get the current bubbles out the column, but this can't be the main solution as it's a filter feeder tank. Thanks

It's a hang on back overflow where only one transfer pipe runs.

A few things first,
How many gallons tank we talking here, and how many gallons is your return pump?

Move your ATS lower in the water so that you don't create bubbles at your return pump chamber.
Better is to move it towards your middle section.
You also can raise the water level a bit as the weir is giving you too much movement.

55 gallon display with 30 gallons of actual water. Pump is around 1000gph.

I'm building a drain for the ats now to fix that source

You have your return pump dialed back or full throttle?

Dialed back to the point where it only releases one big air bubble every couple of seconds

Sorry, misread that. Return pump is full throttle but also powering the ATS

That is WAY too much flow.
If you run 1000 gallons through your only 30 gallons of actual water setup you going to have a ragging river in your sump.
Many have only 5x the total volume of the tank, 50 x 5 = 250 gallons.
Even you have your ATS on there you still move all the 1000 gallons through your sump.
I bet is you reduce it half your micro bubbles are gone.

Also the last baffle before your return pump needs to be higher/taller than the one before, that said poor sump design can also be a problem.

Gotcha. I got the big pump for when I upgrade my tank, so I'll dial that down. As far as sump let me get my creative juices flowing, as I brought that used. Thanks for your help @Diesel
