Been lurking a little bit and learning what I can. I’m pretty new to this hobby. A good friend of mine has been keeping tanks his whole life and he got my interested in it.
I bought a running used Nuvo 20 gallon AIO, with cabinet, ATO and HD prime 16. It had Xenia and two little clowns in it. While I was out of town picking it up, I stopped at a local reef shop there and they had a used Red Sea Reefer 170 with cabinet, sump, dc pump and controller, two heaters, skimmer and a few other odds and ends. I ended up grabbing that for $475. So the first night I got into the hobby I guess I kinda jumped in with both feet.
That was almost four months ago. I’ve added more rock and corals to the 20 gallon as well as two watchman gobies, a pistol shrimp, banded coral shrimp and various cleanup inverts.
I’ve gotten better with my parameters and keeping things stable. The tank had a bad hair algae problem when I got it as well as a little bubble algae. That’s all gone now. The fish and most of the coral are doing very well.
I recently started cleaning up that Red Sea Reefer. The tank and cabinet are ready to get going. I’m currently working on the rock scape. Using Marco rock cause the live stuff is expensive. I’m hoping to make this reefer really nice and am really planning it out and taking my time. I wasn’t able to do much with the 20 gallon cause coral was already growing in there and had no way to re do the aqua scape.
So anyway, this introduction post turned into a book. I’ll add a few pics tomorrow.
