I removed this growth on my female clownfish today using a sterilized pair of nail clippers. Based on the before and after pictures below, does anyone have an idea what the growth was? Any input would be appreciated.

Appears to be a cyst from an injury or fighting and would remove in whole as you have pictured. Good job. At times the outcome can be negative

I appreciate it, thank you. This pair, especially the male drove be nuts with their insane behavior of hiding in a corner and constantly clearing the substrate which I attributed to the growth. So I moved them to another aquarium without substrate. She is less concerned about her reflective image, but he continues to “drill” all day into the bottom or sides as before. After extensive research on prior postings, I saw where member Paul B had recommended nail clippers for growth removal. I had everything ready and from catch, clip and release, it was about 1 minute total. It surprised me how easily and clean it clipped off. She recovered within minutes and started eating afterwards.
