Ya that’s how I have mine as well. Pulling thru skimmer. As far as what size tubing, it’s whatever the typical vinyl tubing is at Home Depot for evacuation pumps. Looks like mine is 3/8” ID

Here is a pic of my wonky setup with my moisture trap before it

It could hook to an air pump but for best results your skimmer intake should pull from the scrubber.
I know this is an older post, but I came air as I am having an issue and your post here got my attention. I have a Reef Octo Hob 2000 skimmer, and purchased a small Ice Cap scrubber. When I hooked it up, based on what little info I confine, my skimmer will not operate correctly when hooked up to it. It is still making some air bubbles, but not enough umph to get the skimmer goin. Any ideas? Do I have too much media in the scrubber? Can’t really change the pump on the skimmer. I am at a loss.

You could try taking some media out and see if that helps..

Came across this thread as I am hooking my Icecap co2 scrubber. According to Coralvue's website, the BRS video is doing correctly (e.g. attaching the outside tube to go to skimmer). It makes sense, since you want the air (possibly with help of an air pump) to go through the middle tube, through the media, through the little bit of water on the very bottom, and then out through the outside tube to the skimmer inlet. No?

Correct… you skimmer needs to Inhale from the co2 scrubber basically. Don’t count on the ice cap media changing colors when it’s depleted thou! If your oh is dropping it’s exhausted.

the problem is the media doesn't get any moist air since dry air is feeding in from the outside

I tried the outside and did not see any improvements, going to try middle

its absurd icecap did not include any instructions anywhere

Every video I read I saw says to use the side port, as does CoralVue's website:

Just connect the tubing from the air intake of your protein skimmer to the output side of the CO2 scrubber. You may be able to remove the silencer from your protein skimmer. Next, remove the lid of the scrubber and fill the reactor with IceCap Carbon Dioxide Adsorption Media (or your preferred CO2 absorbent media) and place it back inside the scrubber.

I just ordered the scrubber so I will have to test both the center and the outside side.

I got it installed using the outside port and immediately see the pink media is turning white, and also see ph is rising.

I did out 10ml of rodi water in the chamber .
