I know some of you have saw my previous post about resealing a 155G bow front. Most of you have said it's a very difficult task, which I do not disagree with at all. However, I am the type of person to attempt something until total failure. plus, my wife said don't give up. So, I am going to attempt to do a massive Full panel reseal on this tank. I will take the time to dive into the internet and see what I can find about building one of these.
As someone mentioned, the only thing that I will lose is time/effort and silicone.
I have a 10x10 shed I can put the tank in once completed in the event it gives out. It's unused and would just need some support done in the spring but it'll work for the testing.
Can anyone point me in the direction of someone who I can ask questions to who has done this before, hoping they live in New York, that would be even better! Someone who might made a custom jig for the bow front. Let me know! will be posting across several sites.
Like I said, im determined. it's just glass and silicone. Not rocket science, just patience and dedications.
I think my first biggest struggle will be getting the frame off the top and bottom without damaging the glass. After that, I think I will start buying suction cups and doing further research I will attempt the reseal once the weather gets better and as mentioned I will get that small shed situated for the testing. I will keep an eye on the interior seals for any bubbling for the summer months. Worst case, I can set up a chiller to help keep the water from getting too warm.
Let me know if there is anyone out there that you know of that has done this successfully, who can really be a mentor for me.
