Inkbird/Heater settings?

So I have had my heater set at 76, and it has kept the tank at 76.2 continously. I added the inkbird today. Should I set the inkbird to control the temp? Or just allow it to keep the inkbird relay on (back emergency shut off) and let the heater itself control the tank temp?

These are my current inkbird settings.

So funny thing about this...it has a continuous heat alarm so it just went off since it's been on the whole time.

I have my Inkbird and heater both set to the same shut off temperature I guess. Maybe don't the other way...

The setting I would use for an Inkbird would be - Setting it in the trash can. Its a matter of time before that thing fails.
Use a Ranco - Commercial quality and a reputation of perfection.

Had a ranco a long time ago. At this point it's working. 1°F allowed variance. We shall see how the ny winter goes.

So funny thing about this...it has a continuous heat alarm so it just went off since it's been on the whole time.

In the InkBird settings, you can set "Continuous Heating Time" setting to "0" and that will turn off that alarm -- assuming yours is same as mine.
*easy in the InkBird app but sure you could do it on the unit itself if you can find the setting

I use my InkBird to control the temperature and leave my heaters' thermostats set a couple of degrees higher but either way works. (InkBird is just easier to dial in exact temperature range in my case).

I was wondering what putting it to 0 would do.

I run inkbirds with titanium heaters that have no thermostats. Been using them for years in three tanks. The only one I've had fail was one that had two sensors and it started setting an error code for temp difference between the two sensors and just shut down the heat so nothing bad happened.

Which model are the others?

The wifi aquarium one has 2 sensors and I see it's not replaceable. That's my only worry.

Same but different, I use Helios controllers to control the temp of titanium heaters (two helios), and I use apex as the failsafe incase something gets stuck on.

However you implement a failsafe, its just what people should do. No one wants a cooked tank.

Just try and keep it simple, l would let inkbird control it, I use inkbird two heater setup ITC-308S, and I let Hydros control it, sometimes I notice the temp is off, and it drives my crazy, I do make changes in the app more than I should, I want two heaters on my tank incase one goes bad, I just need to get this thing right, but for you just keep it simple.

They are 306a wifi also but only one sensor. For the price of the units I look at them as disposable if they fail. Some have sensors that can be replaced but I can't remember which models.

Can you elaborate on this? How would one use a Ranco with a BRS Titanium heater for instance? I see no power outlets or ways to send the on/off signal to the heater, unless I’m looking at the wrong thing?

The ranco requires wiring, at least they used to
