Sorry, yes, I was referring to the AquaWiz, not Hydros. Shipping is an issue these days. But I wonder about the price in the UK for this device? I know the price in Germany is much higher (currency converted) than here, specifically when these are on sale.

Would assume UK to not be cheap either. But ive heard they can be found in Dubai for 650USD. That might be the route I take!

I was a big fan of automation, I have a smart tester by reef factory, the KH manager, the seneye monitor, many smart plugs. All connected to wi-fi. I couldn’t buy apex and trident for budget constraints and I have always planned to buy one as soon as possible.
However with the passing of time and the tank getting more and more stable, I start feeling less important testing on a daily basis.
When the tank is up and running testing once a week is more than enough and is certainly less burdensome than calibrating and keep clean all these automatic tools. If you do not maintain them properly they become very unreliable.

I agree i dont like constant drastic changes but it feels like theres so much innovation with hydros, aquawiz etc and apex are or will start falling behind

Never used hydros or aqua wiz. But curious in your opinion where you think they are far more superior. I have yet to be roadblock with my apex in something I want ed it to do on my tank.

Social media has a lot to do with it. Not knocking them but Hydros is pretty good at being present and has a lot of different shades of lipstick.

I love the fact it has not changed much lol. These days and age it seems like you can’t go 2-3 years without a company changing its product line to a new version and companies killing all support and spare parts to previous product requiring you to pay even more money for the next product in line.

Agree with this. Mine is indispensable but my programming isn’t not complex. I like have manual relays

I think what many people miss is that I do not want a tank controller to control things. What I want are notifications and responses.

I am convinced that a key to long-term success is not having a mass die-off or tank crash. I am less concerned with dialing in my trace elements and much more concerned with preventing disaster.

I want to know if there is water on the floor, if my temperature is too high or too low, if my pH suddenly spikes or dips, if my alk starts drifting down, if there is a power outage, if my skimmer is overflowing, or if my sump level is running dangerously low.

I want something that does something about it. Turns off a heater or chiller, turns off a dosing pump, turns off my sump gear to stop a leak, Ect.

You can have a separate temperature controller, alkalinity tester, ph meters, wifi strips, and leak detectors but, it is about the same price as just buying a controller and you often don't get the same integration of outlets with sensors.
