What should I watch for for signs of a bacterial infection? What might cause this?Could have gotten agitated by substrate and could be the start of bacterial infection.

I have been checking it a lot. I’m checking it tonight. I had an ammonia spike (max of 0.5ppm) from moving rocks and releasing ammonia pockets. This was a few weeks ago and now the ammonia is completely gone. Checking today to see nitrite and nitrate levels.Watch for spreading of the red color.
Stress can cause this just like in a human when your stressed your immune system is weekend.
Check your water parameters.
This is a contusion and likely from a light injury in which there is light hemorrhaging. If it is worse in 24 hours, treat in separate tank using seachem Neoplex with added aeration using an airstone

what if I do not have another tank? I have access to the Seachem neoplex and airstone, but not another tank. How long would he have to be in the other tank? Just until the mark is gone? This is a contusion and likely from a light injury in which there is light hemorrhaging. It may impact your biological portion of tank and should not ne used with coral and inverts. A quarantine system if you dont have one can be as easy as a second hand tank from a thrift store, rubbermaid type tub or as simple as a starter tank kit from Walmart which has most of the essentialswhat if I do not have another tank? Another question. Would this tank not need to cycle like a normal new tank? Could I just use sand from the already set up tank? I’m looking at a 2 gallon from Walmart since he is a tiny YWG. Let me know if a different size is more appropriate for a short term quarantine and how I should go about setting it up for the little guy. try to go minimum 5 gallon and you can use a sponge or other media from your tank for bacteria and cycle not necessary. Other option which should be done anyway is to monitor your ammonia level with a reliable test kit and change water as necessaryAnother question. Yes my ammonia is zero, and I’m testing nitrate and nitrite tonight. Most recent water change was 3 gallons on the 22nd of December. Planning one tonight or tomorrow. No substrate and disregard Nitrite which is Freshwater specific and tells me you are likely using API test kit. I recommend salifert or Hanna brand for ammonia as API color chart can throw you off and leaving you with ammonia level higher than shown.Yes my ammonia is zero, and I’m testing nitrate and nitrite tonight. Should I use any substrate for a quarantine tank or just a bare bottom?
Would Seachem Stressguard be ok to try? I’ll only do this if I see no signs of the mark worsening. Stress guard does nothing as bottle implies and is merely a water conditionerWould Seachem Stressguard be ok to try? I’ll only do this if I see no signs of the mark worsening. Thoughts?
Got it thank u, I’ve seen mixed opinionsStress guard does nothing as bottle implies and is merely a water conditioner
Yes it is only on this one side, not symmetrical. They said to watch for it worsening to see if it’s infected. What does worsening mean? Change in color? Larger size? I am unsure what to watch for to make sure it’s not infected. He’s eating and breathing normally, I know no appetite and labored breathing are signs somethings wrong. Otherwise, I’m kinda lostIs the redness ONLY on the fish's left pectoral fin? If the right side has no redness, I would say this is an injury and may not be infected at all.
