So i have mix live sand in my tank of white and blank for over a year now. But over the past week I noticed my sand is turning red. Is this some type of bacteria or algae?

Reduced flow can aggravate cyano, as can increased light.
I had it when sunlight hit the tank thru a skylight. Emerald crab will eat it. It is opportunistic, and may subside on its own in 2 to 3 weeks. Search for cyano.

Good flow and tank maintenance can help to get rid of it, it doesn't hold on very hard, it can go away on its own especially as you've caught it fairly early. If it gets too bad and starts to take over there are chemicals that can get rid of it but I would make sure to research into these before you use them so you know their effects and proper use.
