Back in action. 5 dips in 5 weeks and everything was cut at the base and remounted so eggs didnt have a place to hide. Lost one frag in the process of about 130 so I can’t complain. I haven’t seen any more worms since the first dip so I’m confident that I killed the life cycle. Colors are off from the handling and dips as to be expected, pictured are a few corals that didn’t loose much color.

Rock scape was lowered and 60% of the acros were put back into the display, the remaining ones I think look better under the radion lit frag tank so I’ll grow them in there.

I’ll post some pics in a month or 2 as things settle in. This is month 8 of the system lol.

Chugging along. Colors and growth increasing on most of the pieces. There were a few stunted/light damaged pieces that I was tired of looking at so I moved them to the frag tank under much less par in a bluer spectrum. Should be easier for them to recover in there. Things are going well. Keeping it steady.

looking good. so will you move the frags that are growing well off those square frag tiles and glue them down? that is what I did before. gave me the ability to figure out where they grew well before glueing them permanently.

Thanks bud. I’ll just leave them and let them cover the tile and grow to the rock. Also gives me the option to move them without handling the coral until the full encrustment happens.

After plumbing in your frag tank how many mL’s of ESV 2 part are you up to now? I would imagine a high amount! What are you dosing for Mag and trace
Enjoying watching this thread!

Enjoying watching this thread!

I was dosing 130ml per day before I switched over to kalk as the primary source. Now with the increased evaporation from the frag tank, I am dosing 12000 ml of kalk daily and 70ml of esv magnesium to maintain levels. No added 2 part yet. As expected, ph range shot up. It now stays 8.15-8.5 range depending on room co2 (even with a co2 scrubber). This has made me see the need for an HRV to exchange the air in the room. I’ll get to that eventually lol.

Glad that you’re enjoying the thread. I’ll be updating more often soon. A lot has changed. This system is seeing some of the fastest growth that I ever had, however, there are many corals that simply won’t grow! Very frustrating. Some of these stunted corals seem to start growing when I get them into the frag tank under the led. I suspect that the the halides are shocking some of the led grown corals that I get, specifically overly blue spectrum grown with a combination of high nutrient. Full spectrum grown corals seem to grow right away.

Blah blah here’s some pics :)

Beautiful tank! I'll be setting mine up early next year. How happy are you with the tank so far? Any issues?

Thank you! I love the tank. Built extremely well. My only complaints would be that I wish the tank was 24” and the weight of it! I had to hire movers to get it into place lol. I did have a sump failure 6 months ago which innovative marine replaced. Apparently the sump is extremely sensitive to solvents. Looking back I think a bottle of nopox may have leaked next to the sump. Be careful what you place next to the sump.

I remember when that happened to you. I have a standard 120 and I do love the 24" height but I think with the added depth front to back, the lower height will make it easier to work on the tank! I plan to do a lower scape than my 120 to allow more room for growth.

My current tank.

Your tank is beautiful! The coraline on the rock is so perfectly covered. Very relaxing to look at. You’ll have a ton of room coming from a standard 120 footprint. You need a Fiji yellow leather and maybe a neon green toadstool!

Thanks for the compliment! I actually really want a bali green slimer for my centerpiece coral! I just really like the growth pattern and shade of green. Maybe a fiji leather is in my future too!
